Biography

Junghoon Nam’s works were selected for several festivals, including the Youngnam international contemporary music festival, Daegu international contemporary music festival, George Enescu Festival in Rumania, ADEvantgarde Festival, Weimarer Frühjahrstage Festival, Eisenach Bach fest in Germany, Kraków International Festival of Composers in Poland. His works have been played by Ensemble Timf, Ensemble Eins, Ensemble Handwerk, QUASARS Ensemble, Thüringer Symphoniker SaalfeldRudolstadt,Thüringen Philharmonie Eisenach Gotha.

Junghoon Nam is a composer who was born on February 19, 1992 in Daegu, South Korea. He studied composition with Edward Sielicki, Dariusz Przybylski, Zygmunt Krauze, Eunsil Kwon at the Keimyung University(B.mus) in South Korea. He moved to Berlin in 2016 and studied privately with Eunhwa Cho and Helmut Zapf. He studied with Isabel Mundry at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich(M.mus and Meisterklasse). His music has been performed in South Korea, Japan, Poland, Finland, Romania and Germany.

He has received various awards, including 3rd prize at the International Jean Sibelius Composition Competition (Finland), 2nd prize at the Weimarar frühjahrstage für zeitgenössische Musik composition competition (Deutschland) (Germany). 1st prize of the George Enescu composition competition (Romania), Main Prize of the 6th Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition for Young Composers (Poland), Main Prize of the International Eisenach Bach Composition Prize. Currently he teaches Keimyung University and Kyungpook national University.
